First day in Madrid

After the hectic morning flight, Meylin and I were exhausted. Once we got off the airplane, we quickly found our luggage, got in a taxi, and headed to Hostal Persal in downtown Madrid. I was impressed from the moment we entered.

This hostal is seriously in the best possible location. There is a market, a farmacia (pharmacy), and a few restaurants all steps away from the front door. We checked in and rode in the tiniest elevator (packed with all our luggage) to the 3rd floor where we found our room.

Finally an air conditioner in Europe!

We were very tired, but didn’t want to spend our first day cooped up in the hotel

We decided to go out and explore what was in the neighborhood around us. Just a few blocks down we tripped across Plaza Mayor – a major tourist attraction in Madrid.

We found lots of interesting things there. From the weird attractions to the souvenir shopping, the Plaza Mayor is a can’t miss for those visiting Madrid.

We mustered up just enough energy to make it over to the Mercado de San Miguel to grab some dinner before crawling back to the hostal to get some much-needed rest.

Hasta luego,
♥ Christine
